Across 70 years of experience, Emu has achieved production of outdoor design furniture coveted on an international level, in collaboration with world-famous designers, using innovative techniques in the plant at Marsciano (PG). This has been a pathway built on a number of decisive factors. Quality, with rigorous control in all the phases of the process; sustainability, starting with 100% recyclable raw materials, while minimizing waste; and research, of such importance as to generate a Design&Simulation Centre, the place where energy, ideas and strategies take form.

The ‘factor’ of 100% Made in Italy is the indispensable foundation. In spite of its increasingly international reach, Emu remains profoundly linked to its territorial context. All the manufacturing happens in the plant at Marsciano, with over 100,000 sqm of area and about 150 employees, and there the company manages all the productive phases. A strategy of centralization that has been stubbornly conserved, nurturing know-how that has been reinforced and enhanced over time. With respect to other companies that focus instead on cutting costs and on relocating production, this approach goes against the trend. The genius loci is such a priority that the company has activated collaborations with local universities, for a fertile dialogue with emerging talents. In the new collections for 2021, Emu has not forgotten its starting point, when in 1951 it was still a workshop specializing in the production of transmission devices for military use, a pioneer in metalworking with a patent of maximum resistance to atmospheric agents.

The technical expertise becomes evident above all in the Cannolè collection designed by Anton Cristell & Emanuel Gargano. A system of sofa components of forceful style, which takes its name from the world of knitting, from the tradition of handmade ribbed fabrics. The alternating density and openness of woolen yarns is replicated in the structure in welded galvanized steel tubing, the earmark of the collection.

The enveloping visual and physical elastic effect creates a timeless style that finds harmonious insertion in contemporary, country or classic settings. The seats, enhanced by special padded cushions, are versatile and can be personalized thanks to modular pieces for multiple compositions and easy assembly.

The Emu in-house design and research division has also created Ronda XS, an acronym for eXtra Stylish, eXtra Strong, eXtra Simple, eXtra Sustainable, due to the high level of strength and stability. And the Shade Pro umbrella, outfitted with an innovative lighting system, adjustable by remote control, with an opening and closing method that requires no movement of the furnishings under the unit.

There are also updated collections, as in the case of Carousel that arises from the strong collaboration with the designer Sebastian Herkner: four dining chair models, three lounge chairs, a sofa, an ottoman, square and rectangular coffee tables, all featuring a particular weave for the cords. And a new edition of Tami, designed by Patrick Norguet, with a bamboo structure.
