Fluid surfaces for spaces in motion

Diesel Living with Iris Ceramica presents seven new collections which use chromatic, visual and tactile effects to change the perception of the surface and the space in which it is inserted

To the solid static nature of architecture, Diesel Living with Iris Ceramica responds with a project intended to restore a vibrant soul to space, a sensorial dynamism evoking ever-changing, ever-changing interior landscapes. The narrative universe created by the synergy between the two brands thus adds an irreverent and surprising touch to indoor atmospheres, taking inspiration from multiple contexts such as fashion and art, declined in design and specifically in the world of finishes. This is how marble, metal, cement, PVC and fabric are rethought to create enigmatic and fascinating ceramic surfaces. The seven new collections are part of this design path: the Hoily Marble, Welding Rivets and Aged Concrete porcelain stoneware proposals and the Melt, Stripes, Wrinkle Foil and Vynil semi-gres tiles.

In Hoily Marble, for example, the consistency and compactness of natural stone are the basis on which opalescent touches, sinuous arabesques and veins at times decisive stand out, an iridescent movement that stems from the recovery of a revisited classical element. Cuts and cracks as traces left by time and signs of wear define Welding rivets, whose surface is characterised by fracture lines and the respective welding of the parts: the result is irregular, unrepeatable ribbing with a handcrafted flavour.

Aged Concrete is a homage to exposed raw concrete, but once again reworked by the brand to offer touches of light and glamour, warm and familiar, reformulating the perception of it: thus even the oxidation shades and the spatula strokes become velvety on the cold halos of the material.

In the dimension of semigres, Melt, a perceptible metaphor for the transition from the solid to the liquid state, makes its way, creating soft ripples. It is pure energy that moves and generates a plastic, dynamic surface that changes according to the point of observation.

This is followed by Stripes, with its succession of light and shadow, solids and voids, in a dense network of 3D striations with a staggered pattern. And again, sinuous reliefs with a sculptural appearance also return on the surfaces of Wrinkle Foil, which declines the theme of cladding through a direct inspiration from laminated sheets. Up to Vynil, a perfect combination of plastic shapes and brilliant, lacquered colour shades.
