There is a connection between indoor and outdoor that stems from the materials, forms and colors that create synergic continuity between the two dimensions, erasing boundaries and barriers and giving rise to a totally coherent universe. This research has been the focus of Baxter‘s design efforts in recent years; after the debut of the new outdoor line last year, new solutions have been added to expand an already remarkable range of décor proposals.

Chairs, daybeds, tables and carpets colonize the terrace, the garden, the poolside, generating theatrical compositions for lounge spaces, dining zones, harmonious as a whole and in constant dialogue with the interior. Also thanks to signatures like those of Roberto Lazzeroni, Studiopepe, Antonino Sciortino – already in the creative ranks of the company – who together with the in-house styling division have skillfully transferred Baxter’s codes into this original open-air context.

A perfect example of the versatility of the Baxter collections is the Himba series designed by Roberto Lazzeroni. Sculpted in (black or natural) iroko wood, Himba adds elegance to outdoor settings, while when it is made in solid black-stained sanded ash wood it sets the character of the most modern interiors. The design remains the same: a sculptural, organic image for sofas, chairs, large and small tables, which with their compact presence become “reassuring” personalities, as the designer puts it.

Likewise, the Narciso sofa has been enhanced with new modules to expand its compositional options. Studiopepe has developed this upholstered furniture collection – composed primarily of sofa, daybed and armchair – with a focus on comfort and good looks, making Narciso an offering that gets beyond any boundaries between inside and outside.

Large soft cushions grant form to the seats and backs, extending delicately beyond the armrests, “which seem to be held together by a metal ribbon,” the designers explain. It is in fact a slender band of 316 stainless steel, which embraces the various modules, suggesting a convivial, informal spirit for the collection.

Nairobi by Baxter, design Roberto Lazzeroni

From spaces for relaxation to dining areas, the Nairobi tables have been designed specifically to build a bridge between outdoor and indoor contexts: the large and small tables of this collection designed by Roberto Lazzeroni bring together linear purity and an informal character – shaped in iroko wood for use outdoors, and in solid black-stained sanded ash wood for interiors. With a low silhouette or at a greater height for dining, two compact, reliable legs support a sculptural top.

The same sort of appeal can be seen in the new Judd table, made in Salar Stone, a limestone of vivid tactile quality and at the same time an extraordinary natural image. Graphic and monumental, this table accompanies moments of gathering in the open air with a strong presence that triggers countless sensations, along the lines of all the design creations by Baxter.

The outdoor collection is the protagonist of the first Baxter monobrand store entirely set aside for the world of open-air furnishings: the Baxter Outdoor Gallery in Milan, at Via Turati 2. (milano@outdoor.baxter.it).
