During the hectic days of Milano Design Week 2024, entering the Antolini MilanoDuomo flagship store every visitor will have the sensation of being welcomed into a rarified and quiet space, where Mother Nature, thanks to extraordinary interpretations of natural stone, is the absolute hostess. The protagonist of the setting for the event in Milan is Cristallo Vitrum “WOW”, a sophisticated natural quartz that is part of the Antolini Exclusive Collection. The dark amber veins and transparencies of this stone give rise to magnetic designs that reference the crystalline surfaces of a sheet of ice in constant movement. Emblematic cases of the extraordinary versatility of natural stone, the pieces created with Cristallo Vitrum “WOW” are perfect examples of the way this material is able to transform rooms into veritable artworks, giving the surfaces an elegant, sophisticated allure.
The masterpiece of the space in Milan of the historic Veneto-based brand is undoubtedly the theatrical bathtub made from a single hollowed block, polished by hand. With its forceful sculptural presence, this piece bears witness to exceptional craftsmanship passed down from one generation to the next, through established production techniques and innovative know-how, in which the approach to the material becomes a sort of exercise of meditation, clearly moving against the trend with respect to the agitated rhythms of our time.
The versatility of natural stones also takes tangible form in the intriguing new version of Terra, the historic kitchen designed in 2004 by Claudio Silvestrin for minotticucine. A bold fusion of art and technology, provocative flair and simplicity, this iconic kitchen celebrates its 20th birthday with cladding that pays tribute to its intrinsic rigor. The particular translucent charisma of Cristallo Vitrum ”WOW” in the refined Lux® finish, in fact, confirms and enhances the timeless solidity of Terra, allow light to flow freely through the regular, carefully controlled geometric forms.
In the Stoneroom of Piazza Fontana, the setting is completed by the precious Tableware Collection designed by Alessandro La Spada. Presented during the last edition of Milano Design Week in Irish Green and RoseGold plated metal, for the event in 2024 this collection of complements for the table appears in a new version that combines Cristallo Vitrum “WOW” with an Oro Satinato metal finish.
Across interrupted curves and soft, irregular forms, the stylistic juxtaposition of these two ancestral materials – stone and metal – brings out the fine craftsmanship and customizing prowess of Antolini’s production, with a clear focus on the unique quality of the object and the function for which it has been made. The pathway of discovery of Antolini stones also extends to a large display wall, presenting over 1300 stones in the catalogue arriving from quarries all over the world.
