Known for efficiency, strength and easy maintenance, stoneware has spread widely in recent years thanks to innovations in finishing and installation techniques. It now occupies a place in the front ranks of contemporary materials for architecture, offering solutions ranging from interior to urban design. A good example of this ongoing research and evolution in the ceramics sector is Atlas Concorde, which at the latest edition of Cersaie – the sector trade fair held at BolognaFiere from 25 to 29 September – presented three new collections, each guided by precise aesthetic influences, and an important collaboration with the international firm Zaha Hadid Architects.
With the three new collections – Marvel Meraviglia, Marvel Onyx and Boost Balance – introduced at Cersaie, joined by the Diamond decoration developed with Zaha Hadid Architects, the brand based in Fiorano Modenese offers architects and designers a tool that translates a wide range of design ideas into surfaces and claddings, for hospitality structures and residential applications.
The new Marvel Meraviglia collection interprets an idea of eternal elegance inspired by Calacatta Meraviglia marble – hence the name – while adding a very innovative feature: the Diamond pattern developed by Atlas Concorde in collaboration with the international firm Zaha Hadid Architects, an exceptional expression of an encounter of styles and values with multiple facets, capable of translating the concept of transformation into design.
Stemming from the collaboration between Atlas Concorde and Zaha Hadid Architects, the Diamond pattern is the result of an evolution of decorative design standards. As Paolo Zilli, Associate Director of ZHA, explains: “The collaboration with Atlas Concorde has led to a project in which ZHA contaminates a classic mosaic with a disruptive element. Like an inclusion in a diamond, the insertion of a foreign body in a crystalline structure brings unexpected dynamism to the rigorous repetition of a rigid geometric grid.”

Based on the sheen and colors of the stone of the same name, Marvel Onyx reinterprets the expressive potential of onyx in a modern way. The collection takes the luminosity of onyx and the typical glow of the stone into Marvel World – the project of Atlas Concorde inspired by Italian and international marble varieties, selected with care from the most prestigious sources in the world. The series stands out for its vivid colors and subtle nuances, fully expressing its elegance in slabs of large size, where subtle veins, slender rifts, inclusions and tonal variations are the details that bring precious value to the surface.

Marvel Onyx becomes part of the complete Atlas Concorde product system: Atlas Plan, a brand of Atlas Concorde specialized in large slabs for kitchen counters, tables and furnishings, explores the potential of Marvel Onyx on the format 162 x 324 cm, in the White version. Marvel Onyx, finally, is transformed into a surface for bath furnishings, in the context of Atlas Concorde Habitat, giving rise to proposals of washstands that suggest the beauty of basins in natural onyx.

Part of the Boost World system, the set of Atlas Concorde collections that explore the facets of concrete and stone effects, Boost Balance enhances the range with a chromatic palette of 10 tones, shifting from pure white to refined grays and anthracite, from warmer to cooler hues. The concrete effect exploits the homogeneous color of the original material and enriches it with shadings inspired by the visual quality of microcement, permitting the surfaces to take on subtle variations without altering the smooth, compact texture.
In the formats 120 x 120 cm and 60 x 120 cm, in a series of colors for velvety or silky and semi-matte effects, the Boost Balance collection relies on the new Velvetech technology developed by Atlas Concorde, patented in Italy, to faithfully replicate the effect of polished concrete with zones of differing brightness and microscopic roughness.
