Free, elusive surfaces, daring patterns, lively colors for facings, furnishings and paneling like works of art. These are the winning projects in the IdeasxWood by Tabu, a brand specialized in dyed wood with headquarters in Cantù, in collaboration with Carpanelli, and with the support of ADI, FederlegnoArredo and FSC® Italia, aimed at university students and designers under 40. The participants were asked to develop expertise on wood and dyeing technologies, production processes and wooden surfaces of the latest generation: multilaminar veneers, industrial inlays, three-dimensional surfaces and paneling.
Such as Sysma, the first prize in the students category, by Stefano Bertolini of the Brera Academy of Fine Arts, in which geometric configurations based on the graphic transposition of rhythmical mathematical series give rise to surfaces with different degrees of vibration, enhancing the intarsio technique and the precious quality of wood varieties.
Or Jazz by Andrea Hadener of the Brera Academy, winning the Valcucine honorable mention for students, an expression of freedom that takes its cue from a musical style.
Or Pixel by Mattia Fornari from Piacenza, first prize in the professional category, featuring a digital pixel matrix transferred in an irregular way to veneer, using techniques of inlaying and cutting.
Other winners include: Superwood by Rebecca Agnoletti, Arianna Marchesani and Chiara Beretta from Florence, assigned the Driade honorable mention for professionals, with paneling that links back to the pop imagery of the 1970s.
Not just wallcoverings, but also furnishings: such as Dolfin by Geovanny Fernando Carignani and Luca Cotini from Milan, Carpanelli first prize for professionals, a seat based on the Venetian manufacturing tradition.
