For almost 50 years, Agape has elevated a culture of design focused on bathroom spaces. Now it is continuing to do this by expanding its architectural vocabulary and multiplying possible interactions with other home spaces. Its innovations bring the bathroom to the outdoors, rendering it an inspiration that creates a foundation for the senses that is complete and always evolving. The new collection features icons of the past and the present-day – washbasins, faucets, bathtubs, and accessories – designed by master designers in versions with weather-resistant materials and new finishes. The Outdoor 2024 collection is full of new colors and materials. The color selection is expanded by warm shades of Cementoskin®, a high-performance cement material for both indoors and outdoors, Petit Granit marble, and Cristalplant® in an outdoor white version, joined hypoallergenic silicone rubber in daring colors, as well as steel materials with the AISI304 alloy in addition to the AISI316L steel, also used in nautical environments.

As we peruse the 2024 collection, we have to start with the Bjhon family of washbasins, designed in 1970 by the master designer Angelo Mangiarotti as planters and then later made in a washbasin version. This timeless object has now been recreated in Petit Granit and in all Cementoskin® colors and brought back to its original place in the home’s outdoor area.

Ufo by Agape, design Benedini Associati

Benedini Associati‘s Ufo bathtub (2002) has room for more than one with its large stainless steel disc. Now it is available in two-tone version with a white interior and dark gray exterior, with one or two backrests in Cristalplant® outdoor white. The Carrara washbasin is from the same studio and the same year. It has been in its catalogue for over 20 years, now in a new interpretation in Petit Granit, bringing it up-to-date for outdoor use as well. The new Petra collection by Diego Vencato and Marco Merendi (2018) is exclusively outdoors and includes washbasins in wall-mounted and column versions, two shower trays and a shower column, a counter top, and support for garden irrigation pipe in Cementoskin® with a natural, velvety finish brings to mind stone polished by flowing water in nature.

More new entries were designed by Benedini Associati in 2019: the Amulet shower tray and the Open Air shower column. The shower tray is a Petit Granit version creating a perfect combination of clean lines, large dimensions, and the strength of marble; the column is mobile and flexible, chosen by ADI for the Compasso d’Oro 2022 prize. Made of Cementoskin®, with a black anodized aluminum base, it can be removed from the base with a simple action and inserted directly in the lawn with a flexible black PVC tube including a rapid garden attachment.

The Vieques and Kaa series, the Handwash washbasin, and the DR and In-Out bathtubs are all given new interpretations in materials suitable for cold climates to withstand the elements. Viesques by Patricia Urquiola (2008 and 2011) now includes a free-standing column washbasin which can be placed outdoors along with the bathtub. The Kaa fixed shower head and hand shower by Giulio Gianturco (2003) is made of hypoallergenic silicone rubber that changes shape as the water pressure increases, bringing a touch of fun and color to the garden or the terrace.

The Handwash washbasin by Benedini Associati (2010) emphasizes its sleek design in a new Cementoskin® version, now in options with or without a side compartment. The DR Cement bathtubs by Studio Mk27, Marcio Kogan, and Mariana Ruzante (2014/2020) bring subtle hints of Brazilian modernism to indoor and outdoor bathroom spaces. The Cementoskin® version is available free-standing or built-in. The same material brings fresh life and character to the free-standing In-Out Cement bathtub by Benedini Associati (2021).

The design vision of the unusual, contemporary Agape bathroom space is completed by the Ascension piece from Neri&Hu (2028) in solid iroko with visible joints that can become a ladder or coffee table, Marco Carini‘s Vis-à-vis stools in natural or biscuited cork ; Rendez-vous day-bed benches, by the same designer, available in three different heights, made with engineered cork ropes and braided by hand on a tubular recycled aluminum structure, painted a shade of warm brick red.
