After opening her gallery in Paris in 2019, French designer Laura Gonzalez inaugurates a second space to express her eclectic style. This time, the chosen location is New York City, in the Tribeca district (102 Franklin Street): one of the city’s landmark districts, a unique mix of 19th-century industrial and commercial buildings (like the one that houses the gallery, which still has its distinctive external fire escapes) and new architecture.
“It’s a vision that has been brewing in my mind for quite some time now. Picture this: a vibrant corner of New York City where the essence of French savoir-faire and art de vivre intertwines seamlessly. A place where every detail speaks to the soul, evoking a sense of wonder,” explains the designer.
The space, which has two lights on the street (door and shop window), is longitudinal. The first room, with its bright ivory walls, evokes the atmosphere of Parisian apartments; from here, you pass into a small library that doubles as a bar, and then you enter the real heart of the gallery: a large living room lit by a continuous skylight and dominated by a chimney sculpture custom-made by ceramist Laurent Dufour. Here, a red brick wall tells of the building’s industrial past.

In addition to Laura Gonzalez’s signature pieces, the gallery also features creations by other designers: alongside Dufour’s fireplace are shell-decorated pieces by Thomas Boog. This mix will evolve and change over time.
