All design lovers dream of furnishing their homes with emblematic pieces that have gone down in history, or objects shaped by new emerging talents. To match this dream, the founders of Yourse.co have a great idea: to offer design leasing with the possibility of a rent-to-buy option, based on the formula applied by the auto industry.

The platform contains over 500 articles for rent: iconic furnishings and lamps by Charlotte Perriand, Walter Gropius, Mario Bellini, Piero Lissoni (made by brands like Poltrona Frau, Cassina, Vitra, Cappellini, Flos, Artemide); and the projects of young creators, a team put together by Novel and Mallez through careful talent scouting and curatorial effort: Axel Chay, Arnho Declercq, Maxime Boutillier, Marina Declarey… Most of their pieces can be produced by request; in this way, Yourse.co supports a production sector normal consumers can seldom reach. Cutting-edge design becomes more democratic.

The intuition of the two founders, which took form slightly over one year ago, is meeting with success: “The most complicated part was convincing the leasing companies to support us, in a market that is still not well-known in France. The brands, on the other hand, immediately understood the importance of this new format to reach younger clients, people who would seldom cross the threshold at their showrooms,” Mallez explains.

“I spent my student loan – Novel adds – on pieces by Cassina and B&B Italia, which are still in my home. To respond to the request of one of my children, who wanted furnish his first apartment with design icons, I had the idea of creating a service for the younger generations. Giving them the possibility of being surrounded by creativity, while at the same time meeting the everyday challenge of sustainable consumption.” With a focus on the circular economy of design.

Oriented towards different types of targets, the website offers a B2B service for architects, hotels and companies, while the B2C service is for generations X and Y, with very competitive prices: we’re talking about 15 € per month for a chair by Jean Prouvé produced by Vitra.

The vast catalogue is like a design museum from which to select one product or more, deciding on the time period of the lease, leading to the possibility of replacement or purchase. Once ordered, Yourse.co handles the shipping, assembly and installation. For 48 € a month, you can light your living room with an Arco lamp by the Castiglioni brothers.
