The winners of the prize promoted by NYCxDesign: a lot of categories examined, many Italian brands awarded

A celebration of design in all its forms and expressions: that’s the sentiment moving the NYCxDesign Awards organized by the renowned event in collaboration with Interior Design, now in its 6th edition.
The virtual ceremony took place during the Design Days by NYCxDesign, six days of virtual, hybrid and live events, in five different districts of the city.

A lot of design areas have been considered looking for the best international proposals from the last 12 months.

Let’s start with the residential category.
Poltrona Frau wins in the “furniture” segment thanks to the original series of modular room dividers designed by GamFratesi for the 2021 collection; for the “desk” one, Zanotta stands out with Tucano by Monica Förster. The Romby armchair by GamFratesi for Porro get the first place as “seats”, DS-5010 by De Sede as the best “stool”, CH78 Mama Bear by Hans J. Wegner for Carl Hansen & Son excels among the “lounge seatings” (but in this frame others brand got a special mention as Minotti with Daiky and Mattia armchairs, respectively designed by Marcio Kogan and Rodolfo Dordoni). Sumo by Piero Lissoni for Living Divani wins in the “sofa” category.

The contract sector has been equally investigated in its wide shades. Patch and Cord rug produced by Gan for Haworth and designed by Patricia Urquiola triumphs in the “contract flooring” section. Other winners are Fractals Nook desk by Studio TK as “furniture contract”, Mix Table Collection by Bernhardt Design as “contract table”, followed by the Dan chair by Patrick Norguet for Zanotta in the “seat” category and the Big Talk armchair by Blå Station in the “sofa + lounge” section.

Noteworthy, the outdoor world that brings in the front line the 2021 Color Collection by Brown Jordan Outdoor Kitchens, Plateau by Sutherland Furniture as outdoor furniture collection” (category that includes a special mention to Capa by Gandiablasco, Design Søren Rose, and Elba by Paola Lenti); in the “seats” section the winner is Kida collection designed by da Stephen Burks for Dedon, with special mentions going to Chopstix by JANUS et Cie and Kasbah by Living Divani, Design David Lopez Quincoces).

To be mentioned, Intersection, the new project by Vincent Van Duysen for Molteni&C|Dada that takes the podium in the “kitchen” category and La Linea by Artemide, winner as “architectural lighting”.
