In the practice of Zen Buddhism, Kenshō is an experience that is so intense as to trigger enlightenment. That vision that transforms and reveals the true nature of things must have been what happened to the design team of this 75-meter megayacht, which bears that vision’s name. Kenshō, in fact, has just joined the ranks of the Admiral fleet, the flagship brand of the Italian Sea Group.
For its creation, Azure Yacht Design, archineers.berlin and Agence Jouin Manku have dared to set off a revolution in architectural configurations, which incorporates the best ideas of residential design with those of nautical design, creating a new quality of life on the sea. The project, overseen directly by the yachtsman, has redefined the boundaries of space, layout and luxury on superyachts, meeting technical challenges overcome through exceptional aesthetic and functional solutions.
Starting with the materials – teak, marble, onyx, silk, wool, bronze and glass – shaped in rounded, organic forms to narrate tales of fine craftsmanship and tradition. Soft profiles constitute a constant motif across the yacht, becoming an identifying characteristic. The unusual layout calls for internal ceilings with a height of 2.7 meters, guest cabins with a depth of 7, and extremely spacious bathrooms. The full-beam master suite measures 13 meters, for use when opened or in a more private configuration.
The shared spaces also avoid the usual dimensions of pleasure boats. The 22.3-meter swimming pool is placed on the aft beach deck, right at sea level, offering a panorama of the horizon that can be enjoyed from any point on the yacht thanks to lowered bulwarks, full-height glazing and custom outdoor furnishings. The wheelhouse has been shifted to assign more importance to the living area on the upper deck, which creates ideal spaces for socializing, along with the ample yet intimate main deck.
This exceptional size and reorganization of the spaces has been combined with excellent navigation performance, thanks to an innovative diesel-electric propulsion system, using permanent magnet motors to ensure efficiency and power, and a hull developed to minimize resistance, through the use of azimuth thrusters, together with retractable wing stabilizers.
Extreme care has gone into ecological aspects, complying with ‘ECO’ classification thanks to a propulsion system with five variable speed generators, all equipped with particulate filters to optimize consumption at any speed while reducing harmful emissions in the air.
