The 99 Paladins of Venini

During Maison&Objet the historic glassworks presents its new limited edition collection designed by Emmanuel Babled

Elegance, style and modernity. Emmanuel Babled has succeeded in giving a contemporary feel to the bust, a form of sculpture that is so classical it dates back centuries. The new Paladini collection was presented on 18 January in Paris at the Damiani boutique during the days of the traditional Maison&Objet trade fair.

The series created by the French designer for Venini consists of 99 unique works that seek to pay tribute to writers, philosophers and inventors who have laboured to protect the beauty of culture and the value of innovation. Made in art glass, the Paladini present themselves with a proud and noble posture and a marble-like form that gives them an imperial feel.

Babled contrasts the wise firmness of past eras with the confused frenzy of the present day.
Each piece is a celebration of knowledge, that kind of awareness born of the most sensitive minds, as well as that of the ancient glassmaking tradition. The masters of glass have created works that take shape in an overlay of strata of opaque glass adorned with two coloured tongues able to create the shoulders.
In short, a further proof of the “know how” of the Venini company.
