Flou started out in the bedroom, then went on to the living room, and now it’s come outdoors. Flou‘s growth can be measured in terms of style and in its unique ability to move past design bounds, experimenting within the home setting and adapting in response to contemporary living trends. This year the company is making its first showing in the world of outdoor furnishing with a collection that draws on its values of elegant comfort, given expression in a furniture set made for relaxing in good company.
As the point of connection between the indoor/outdoor collections, Gaudí makes its debut in a natural setting. The designer Matteo Nunziati (who has a long-running collaboration with Flou) has given a fresh interpretation to the living room collection of the same name that was introduced last year. He gives it a new conception in materials that suit the outdoors too. Its distinctive identity remains unchanged, with a concept based on the harmonious combination between wood and textile.
The sofas and armchairs have a lightweight look and perfectly combine the natural strength of iroko wood with removable, technically innovative upholstery fabrics. They are “green” both visually, inspired by weaves in nature, and in their composition, recyclable material and 100% Italian production. The wood peeks out subtly from the base as well as the slightly curved frame that holds voluminous soft padding, like a framework wrapped by the backrest’s fabric. These textiles that are made to cradle you are crafted with the greatest sartorial care.
The composition includes two sizes for the sofa, one larger and the other more contained in length and depth. Along with the classic armchair, there is a corner armchair with a single armrest, a highly versatile option to create dynamic, original lounge areas and conversation corners.
The Gaudí collection and the 2022 outdoor novelties by Flou will be previewed during Milan Design Week, at the Salone del Mobile fair (hall 7, A15 B12) and at “Fuori Salone” with a special exhibit in the Samsung District (Via Mike Bongiorno 9 – Porta Nuova neighborhood): a set made for the occasion where the comfort of Flou’s design will meet Samsung’s technology for the outdoor furnishing.
