Geberit goes backstage

The company has sponsored the restyling of the first dressing room of the TAM Teatro Arcimboldi Milano, a project stemming from a competition won by the studio Calvi Ceschia Viganò Architetti Associati. Open to visitors during Salone del Mobile 2022

The space of 40 square meters has welcomed Roberto Bolle, Paolo Conte, Bob Dylan, Liza Minelli, Charles Aznavour and even the Dalai Lama. The ‘Primo Camerino’ of TAM Teatro Arcimboldi Milano has been renovated in an innovative project, VIETATO L’INGRESSO – IL PRIMO CAMERINO, presented by Show Bees and TAM Teatro Arcimboldi, invented and coordinated by Giulia Pellegrino.

The restyling of the theater’s first dressing room, assigned to Calvi Ceschia Viganò Architetti Associati, is the concluding phase of the successful contest (which the architects won with the Diorama project) organized during the Fuorisalone 2021, when it was possible to visit the 17 dressing rooms refurbished by 17 design firms. The timing has been very rapid: the worksite began a few days ago, and will be completed in May. Visitors can see the new Primo Camerino starting on 6 June, during the Salone del Mobile 2022. This deadline coincides with the 20th anniversary of the theater.

The designers are pleased, and explain: “The project for the ‘Primo Camerino’ is the result of listening to its future users, with whom we had an opportunity to talk over the last few months. This place is located in rooms originally intended as a changing room and cleaning room, but fortunately its generous size and height make it perfect for its use. After all, there is no such thing as a ‘perfect place’ or a ‘wrong place’, and there are no easy or difficult projects. The simple, functional bathroom conceals its technology under the surfaces of colored resin; a system of prefabricated parts will facilitate future maintenance.”

Many companies in the world of design have been involved in the project. Among the main sponsors, Geberit has been entrusted with the creation of the bathroom environment. The systems include the Geberit Duofix installation modules, developed for light plasterboard walls, with soundproofed operation. The space savings – a fundamental factor in such a limited area – are provided by washstands and fixtures from the Geberit One collection, a pioneering solution that connects the inside and outside of the wall with a single product. The space is completed by the Olona shower tray.
