The value in this Wuyi Captain Mansion lies in its unique local architectural features in the remote mountainous area of southwest Sichuan, where temperature is nearly 17 °C all year round. The tall main room, the elegant wing-room, the bluestone floor, the symmetrical stairs, the unique window grilles, and the embossed drum-shaped stone foundation, all of these have become the legend of the mansion. IDMatrix took the “legend” as the starting point, and set the ancient house as the prologue hall to the hotel.
Adjacent to the wall of the old building, a water corridor leads people to the new building, the main body of the hotel. With ancient composition and modern design, IDMatrix used blue bricks as the material, shabby houses as the roof and sunlight as the medium, hoping to create a contrast between the old and the new, a time-space relationship between history and contemporaries as well as harmonious and aesthetic feelings. In the process of awakening this quiet and elegant interior space, local rare cultural heritage remains to become rare art exhibits.
