To involve and attract designers, especially the younger ones, to work with and take inspiration from the small but remarkable reality of Murano, with its precious heritage. This is the objective of the exhibition “Empathic. Discovering a Glass Legacy” in the spaces of InGalleria, the art gallery of Punta Conterie in Murano, from 11 September 2021 to 10 April 2022.
The attractive power of glass, in fact, is the leitmotif of a series of installations and limited editions created by Ini Archibong, Noé Duchaufour-Lawrance, GamFratesi, Benjamin Hubert, Richard Hutten, Elena Salmistraro and Marc Thorpe, invited by Luca Nichetto – curator and participant at the same time – to experiment in an empathic way with glass material in its multiple forms: blown, poured, crafted in strips…
Free from the constraints of serial production, without any brief or limitation, the group has given rise to an itinerary made of archetypal forms, totems, objects that establish a dialogue with the viewer through the codes of emotion, perception and, in some cases, memory.
Each piece embodies great skill and creativity, produced by InGalleria Art Gallery under the supervision of Alessandro Vecchiato, involving the best glassworks in Murano, each specializing in a particular technique of workmanship. “By asking Luca Nichetto to invent and curate this exhibition –Vecchiato says – I wanted to see what would happen if we all met a challenge, experimenting, breaking down the grammar of forms, techniques and individual ingenuity, to achieve unprecedented results.”
