Rubelli celebrates 1600 years of Venice

The company pays tribute to the history of the city with San Polo, a new 100% silk damask

Rubelli celebrates 1600 years of Venice with San Polo, a new 100% silk damask. Reassuring in its design, original in its colors, San Polo joins San Marco, the precious crepe damask, part of the collection for over a century. Both represent the loftiest expression of Rubelli’s production of silks.

Precious, light, impalpable, these two fabrics offer the typical crepe damask relief of Venetian craftsmanship, which Rubelli has refined in its weaving mill in Como. Two damasks reflecting a close bond with Venice: San Marco is not only the patron saint, but also one of the six sestieri, or districts of the city; San Polo is another one of the districts, named for church of San Paolo Apostolo, known as San Polo in local parlance.

Each of the two fabrics comes in a range of 16 variants, one for each century of the life of the city: San Polo is glamorous, versatile and lively, close to contemporary tastes, available in eight ton-sur-ton versions and eight with contrasting warp and weft, for an iridescent effect. San Marco is ideal for elegant furnishings, with its grand design, where the warp is skein dyed in three colors by hand, and a particular ‘patina’ accentuates the chromatic and luminous vibration.
