Maya means ‘illusion’ in Hindi. Mirroring this, the leno-woven textile creates the illusion of a floor-to-ceiling striped pattern by balancing a matte open grid with narrow densely woven bands. Made from flame-retardant Trevira CS, the curtain comes in discreet, graceful shades associated with traditional saris.
Nipa Doshi: “Flowing like the wind. Opaque as smoke. Cool as moonlight. These are some of the associations that come to my mind when I think of Maya. When we selected the colours, it was particularly important to us that they provided a sense of lightness, like a wash of colour to space.”
