“Food as a Design object”

The variegated offer of the area dedicated to young designers under 35 offers a 360 ° view of design: from furniture to textile design, from lighting to 3D printing, to new eco-sustainable materials

This is the theme that animates the 22nd edition of SaloneSatellite, a contextual exposition at the Salone del Mobile.Milano, a stage for young international talents. The event, founded and curated by Marva Griffin Wilshire, this year invites all to reflect on the relationship between design and food, a field in which over 550 newcomers are called to boldly address. If the now necessary global food revolution requires a sharing of design, technology and manual tradition to deal with the challenges of the future, in the same way, the designs that take the stage at the event hosted in halls 22-24 are based on the same cornerstones, in a balanced combination of avant-garde and tradition. A profitable contamination is therefore guaranteed by the internationality of the participants: new talents are joined by some designers from previous editions, the winners of the 2018 editions of SaloneSatellite Moscow and SaloneSatellite Shanghai, as well as Italian and foreign schools and universities of the sector. It will then be a jury chaired by Paola Antonelli (Senior Curator for Architecture and Design at MoMA and curator of the XXII Milan Triennale) to nominate the three best products presented, whose designers will be proclaimed winners of the SaloneSatellite Award.
