Lavish celebrations like only London society knows how to put on. The renowned Society of British and International Design certainly did not stint this year on the occasion of its annual event, the
SBID International Design Excellence Awards 2016 which rewards the best in design and production in a vast range of categories.
Nor did the judges – a highly respected panel that included Roberto Snaidero, Chairman of FederlegnoArredo, Marek Reichman, Chief Creative Officer and Design Director of Aston Martin and Kevin Mau, Senior Creative Director of The Boeing Company – stint on the care they took in selecting the candidates: 230 international finalists classified in 14 specific areas – Club&Bar, Healthcare, Hotel, Intelligent Design, Office, Public Space, Residential, Show Fats among many others.
The Innovative Product Design category is worthy of note and was won by Oikos, the only Italian company to win a prize in the SBID International Design Excellence Awards 2016 for Oikos Bronzo Fuso, the new environmentally-sustainable blend of colour and material developed by the company and defined by the jury as:
“A demonstration of sustainable innovation and Italian craftsmanship. A sustainable material that is soft to the touch, scratchproof and light resistant, it allows infinite personalization of the surfaces.”
A tangible demonstration of the product and its admirable aesthetic effects is the renovated lobby of the Hilton in Milan (by London’s THDP design studio) created the Oikos’ Bronzo Fuso finish.
