Poltrona Frau makes a move in Manhattan

The company’s new flagship store in New York is one of the latest arrivals in the NoMad zone, which after SoHo – by now invaded by fashion – has become the leading design district in the city

Conceived as a dynamic space for interaction and creativity, the new Poltrona Frau flagship at 118 Madison Avenue embodies the design vision of AMDL CIRCLE, helmed by the architect Michele De Lucchi. Inside an Art Deco building from the early 1900s, the showroom is organized on three levels, for an impressive floorspace of over 1700 sqm, where clients can explore the collections of Poltrona Frau, as well as those of the brands of Haworth Lifestyle Design Group, Ceccotti Collezioni, Officine Gullo and Cappellini.

“The new flagship store represents a crucial moment in the history of the brand,” says Nicola Coropulis, CEO of Poltrona Frau. “The setting functions as a dynamic canvas for the display of our various solutions for residential living, workplaces and public spaces, offering visitors an unparalleled experience.”

The new home of Poltrona Frau mixes a dynamic layout with engaging design features, a concept that takes its cue from hotels, fashion stores and industrial spaces, suggested by the architectural elements. Outstanding episodes include a materials library designed like a haute couture atelier, and a large garden space on the semi-basement level, presenting the Poltrona Frau Outdoor collection.

“In this constantly evolving world – says Michele De Lucchi – we have to keep on reimagining all that surrounds us. Today a store is a space in which to perceive transformation, a catalyst for change. Our objective is to make the showroom evolve into a central gathering place where people are encouraged to establish dialogue: a place of identity and comfort that triggers proactive relationships, inside an atmosphere capable of addressing individual lifestyles.” To celebrate this new opening, Poltrona Frau has launched a limited edition of 50 pieces of the Leplì stool designed by Kensaku Oshiro, available only in New York.
