FAI, Fondo per l’Ambiente Italiano ETS, has received the donation of two new properties rich in history, which together with Villa Necchi become parts of the house-museum circuit of Milan: Casa Crespi, with the Bagutta Collection, and Casa Livio, with the Grandi Collection. The foundation will open these sites to the public in 2026, as places of knowledge but also of experience in the life of Milan.

The special character of Casa Crespi and Casa Livio is that they will be house-museums with a specific approach, closely connected to their history but also to the initiatives they will contain: educational programs on comprehension of music and the practice of drawing.

“The importance of the house-museums becomes increasingly significant for cities: these facilities embody their deepest spirit. They are not just great historical buildings, but also represent destinations for understanding of our heritage,” says Marco Magnifico, President of FAI. “In this sense, the new donations narrate a time, a society and a culture that all speak to Milan. Their private histories convey the identity of the city and its roots. The house-museums reveal urban contexts still to be explored, acting as presences that enter a context of cultural tourism.”

The new donations also mark the launch of an innovative collaboration between FAI and the studio ACPV Architects Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel: the architecture firm will develop an avant-garde working method for the restoration and conservation of historical heritage, based on digital design tools through the BIM (Building Information Modeling) system, with the creation of Digital Heritage Twins, replicas of the two new house-museums that will contain all the information required to plan intervention and maintenance.
