New visions

From the office that enters the home, to the home that enters the office. Today the challenge for workspaces is to form settings that respond to the needs of their inhabitants

We hear a lot of talk about hybrid work, or an operative mode that includes the presence of staff in the office, but also in remote linkage – halfway between traditional labor and smart working, like a combination of both.

Icon (on cover), the collection of chairs produced by Mara, with the creative contribution of Marcello Ziliani, offers a refined image typical of seating for the home, and advanced technology drawn directly from the world of working spaces. Comfort is ensured by large, soft cushions (in molded foam) and by the movement of the back, which is separated from the seat. Icon, though it is a typical bucket seat, is not a single-chassis model: the seat and back are made separately, precisely to guarantee independent movement.

To nurture this new growth opportunity for companies, furnishings have to adapt to new styles of working practice, balancing good looks and functional quality, as in the case of Midj, with the new Dama series, featuring a table and a desk created by the architect and designer Jacopo Maria Giagnogni. These pieces stand out for the particular structure of the metal base. The central crossing of the supports has been divided into two units, firmly connected to sustain tops with a length of up to 2 meters. The top can contain a practical wiring kit, to ensure order and efficiency.

Parterre, the new seating designed by Cristina Celestino for Quinti, is a tribute to the Italian garden, linking back to its variegated, elaborate ornamental geometry. The Parterre compositions with a high module against the wall provide great versatility for infinite configurations.

The unit has a five-spoke base in die-cast aluminium, on wheels. Working in close contact with Pernette Perriand-Barsac, Cassina has also reissued the desk with new material finishes: oak-stained or black-stained ash, or natural canaletto walnut. The wooden top – the focal point of the piece – is quite thick and can be entirely covered in cowhide, or used with an optional desk pad.

Kicca One 2nd Life by Kastel

Spy (design Emilio Nanni) is the collection by Billiani composed of chairs and tables of different sizes. The leitmotif is the design of the leg, which tapers to a point, and is mounted in a slightly splayed arrangement. The stylistic feature of the seating is the workmanship for the shell, seen at its best from behind, where it folds to accommodate the back legs. Four seating models are available, from the elegant small chair to the comfortable bergère. The units come with a wooden base, but also with a metal variation shaped around the padded shell.

Kicca One 2nd Life is the chair by Kastel in recycled polypropylene. Obtained by regeneration of post-consumer plastics, during the recycling process the material is reinforced with fiberglass to boost technical performance. Recycled and recyclable, Kicca One 2nd Life is also green in color: the Desert Sage tone has a unique texture where small black dots and slight haloes demonstrate the origins of this sustainable product.

The USM Haller modular systems get smart with the new Lock C. Thanks to dual technology (RFID and Bluetooth), the lock can be easily activated with a magnetic key or a smartphone, with an intuitive app. The Public Locker model has also been created for coworking facilities, where the workstations are no longer assigned in a definitive way and require more flexibility.

Line by Calligaris, Design Busetti
Line by Calligaris, Design Busetti

Line is the wall-mounted bookcase by Calligaris, Design by Busetti, which stands out for its essential simplicity. A strong, slim sheet is welded onto tubes with a very small cross-section. Both elements contribute to stiffen the structure, and the horizontal tubes also provide support for the shelves, which can be freely positioned for objects and books of different sizes.
