Sutherland Furniture, a leading American company in the field of outdoor furnishings, has appointed the Catalan designer Eugeni Quitllet as its new creative director. The relationship between Sutherland and Quitllet dates back to the design – with Philippe Starck – of the Robinwood collection, launched in 2009, which then gained remarkable success.

“I’ve known about Sutherland since 2006. The brand has evolved significantly over time, exploring a very personal style that has given it a unique position in its field,” Quitllet remarks. “I hope my vision and my ‘magic touch’ can complete this new dream, sharing it with the world in the best possible way! The great quality and variety of the materials used by Sutherland, together with their exceptional know-how, truly symbolize the brand. Together with technology, these resources will be the drivers of expansion into new territories, making Perennials and Sutherland a group of reference for both indoor and outdoor décor.”

The first creation by Quitllet for Sutherland is the Monaco chair, currently in production and slated to launch for spring/summer 2023. Monaco is made of salvaged marine plastic combined with parts in teak, in the brand’s sophisticated style. The idea of designing with sustainability in mind, while at the same time creating futuristic new objects of timeless appeal, is an integral part of the new approach of Quitllet for Sutherland.
