“With the pandemic, we saw our clients have a real focus on their homes and sales increased by 30%”, says Ross Bonetti, Livingspace’s Owner, a leading destination for modern European design in Canada. He explains how the market is evolving in Vancouver, one of the world’s most desirable cities for livabilty.
How is your local market evolving? How is the trend of purchases?
Vancouver is consistently listed as one of the world’s most desirable cities for livabilty. We have a large international clientele that is well educated about design and the Italian brands we carry at the store. With the pandemic, we saw our clients have a real focus on their homes and sales increased by 30%.
Who are you clients?
We have a mix of residential and tower project business with clients from all over the world.
What are the trends in furniture? What do your customers ask for more?
Our clients are buying quality and have a great interest in our international name brands. The luxury brands are very popular in sophisticated muted fabrics and rich woods.
What relationship do you have with international brands and partners? How do you choose them?
We have long standing relationships with most of our brands that, like Livingspace, are mostly generational businesses. We are attracted to a brand for their aesthetic but we will buy on the substance of the company.
When will you present, or have you already presented, the new collections? Are you planning events, in person or digital?
We have enjoyed our suppliers’ creativity in presenting their new collections virtually. Like Minotti, who created “Studio TV”, a full television studio in the HQ to present their new pieces in the highest quality. We have been comfortable buying and presenting the collection to our clients.
In the project area, do you have any ongoing big projects?
Vancouver’s hot real estate market cooled in 2018 but has seen huge gains in sales through 2021. We are currently working on three large tower units.
