Designweg, the Vitra miniatures mark the path

Twelve glass columns with the most iconic products by Vitra guide the visitors from the centre of Weil am Rhein to the Vitra Campus

Twelve glass columns conceived by the designers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec present highlights of modern furniture design from the renowned collection of the Vitra Design Museum. They guide visitors and citizen in a path with a high level of design.

This is Designweg, the new design walk connecting the centre of Weil am Rhein to the Vitra Campus: it begins at the final stop of tram line 8 and runs along the pedestrian path to the south entrance of the Vitra Campus.

The project crates a timeline of the design history, an overview of nearly 200 years of furniture history, from the famous nineteenth-century Vienna Coffee House Chair by Thonet, to pieces by Le Corbusier or Charles and Ray Eames, ’til the famous Panton Chair by Verner Panton and contemporary seats.

Designweg di Vitra, design dei fratelli BouroullecThe furniture miniatures are produced by the Vitra Design Museum since 1992 at a scale of 1:6, replicating even the smallest details of their original counterparts, acquiring cult status for design devotees.
