For the 10th edition of Das Haus, imm cologne has invited three studios well acquainted with the event, because they participated in 2013 (Luca Nichetto), 2016 (Sebastian Herkner) and 2019 (Studio Truly Truly).

Dick Spierenburg

‘Managed apartments’ is the new topic for 2021, approaching the theme of change in housing, not only caused by the health emergency that is impacting the whole planet, but also by new urban development and the need for innovative housing solutions. The idea of Das Apartment HAUS 2021, whose creative director is Dick Spierenburg, comes from multiple minds and countries, presenting residential formulas with a mixture of private spaces and shared zones.

Sebastian Herkner, one of the most successful German designers on an international level, based in Offenbach, works for Dedon, Gloster, Ames, Pulpo and Schramm and is enthusiastic about this possibility to collaborate with other studios.

Kate e Joel Booy

Kate Booy is Australian, and together with her husband Joel Booy she runs the studio Truly Truly. They were happy to accept the invitation from imm cologne, because the freedom offered by Das Haus will permit them to explore extreme ideas. Their studio based in Rotterdam collaborates with various brands, including Leolux, Tacchini, Dexter Lighting and Rakumba.

Luca Nichetto

The third creative mind is Luca Nichetto, based in Venice and Stockholm, working for companies like Rolf Benz, Sancal, Kristalia, &tradition, La Manufacture, Bernhardt Design, Foscarini and Wittmann.

For this edition, he says he wants to make something very radical and provocative, exploring two levels of meaning: that of the message to be transmitted, and that of relevant items for a new era of living and working in the home.

Das Haus by Luca Nichetto

Long– or short-stay apartments, innovative homes in areas of high urban density, represent a very timely theme. Managers, expats, digital nomads, commuters, students and people starting out on a new professional life all have different expectations when it comes to urban living.

Das Apartment HAUS in Pavilion 11.2 will include four apartments with shared areas, offering solutions for private residences and semi-public workspaces, zones for meetings and others for relaxation. The series of examples proposed by the designers will enable us to discover innovative residential formulas and a ‘new way of dwelling’ not just to respond to the needs of smart working, but also to adapt to our needs for privacy, social activities indoors and outdoors, and entertainment.
