After Milan, Copenhagen, Stockholm, Zurich and Helsinki, Fritz Hansen arrives in London with its first exclusive UK showroom, in the Clerkenwell district, home of the most important English and international architecture firms. Two stories in industrial style at 78 Cowcross Street, behind the historic Spitalfields Market: 150 years of the Danish brand, including classics updated in terms of finishes and materials.
Like the Series7 chair designed in 1955 by Arne Jacobsen, now clad in velvet, the Ant Deco chair, again by Jacobsen, with a tribal print, and the Ant in new pastel hues like yellow and pink, for spring. Reissues include the Planner tables, accessories and shelves, starting from the original project by the American designer Paul McCobb in the 1950s.
Alongside these historic creations, there are contemporary items like the Fred lounge chair Fred by Jaime Hayon, with new coverings, the N02 Recycle post-consumer plastic chair by the studio Nendo, Helmed by Oki Sato, and the latest lighting collections. Visitors can also see limited editions, like the Bauhaus commemorative version of the classic Kaiser Idell lamp in brass and matte black.
“We are proud to open our first English monobrand showroom in Clerkenwell, London, in close proximity to many design professionals,” says Christoffer Back, VP Contract Sales & Business Development Europe. “The splendid space in a central location couldn’t be better, and we are excited about showing it to existing partners and potential clients.”
