The strong appeal of Brussels Design September

Over 100 events prepped to take place during Brussels Design September, ranging from culture to business, from meetings to installations, but with design as special leitmotiv that unites everything and everyone for 24 days.

In these days, the city – and for the first time also the historic center – literally opens up to design lovers and professionals with thematic trails full of by workshops, galleries, shops, public and private spaces, pop-ups, in a network of paths rich in proposals.

At the Fish Market, in the heart of the Chartreux neighborhood, it will be possible to admire two installations, one designed by architect Julien De Smedt, in collaboration with American company Emeco, the other designed by MINI in collaboration with Ruud Belmans called “Breathe”: a large round table built with natural materials to filter the air and provide energy to the city.

Once again the Commerce Design Brussels promotes the award that puts in contact retail designers and dealers; the synergy with BDS is essential and has attracted the interest of international architects.

The Brussels Design Market, perhaps the most important European vintage market, will be one of the city’s venues linked to the event.

The New Belgians represents the new wave of Belgian design, a result of the 12-year presence at SaloneSatellite in Milan: each designer will have the opportunity to present a single object to trendsetters and to the industry world visiting the city during the September event.

The Belgian design role in Art Nouveau will be showcased at the ADAM – Brussels Design Museum; Belgitude is the exhibition curated by Siegrid Demyttenaere introducing 10 collaborations between Belgium designers and business.
