Alessi joins the Delta Air Lines cabin crew by signing a new collection of accessories for on-board services and in particular for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Within the ambitious revival strategy, the American airline specializing in business travel, has chosen the historic Italian brand to curate a modern, stylish and functional collection of service products and tableware, inspired by its designer retail lines.
Presented last month at the Chelsea White Space Gallery in New York, the “Alessi for Delta” collection is based on popular items created and inspired by six of the 300 renowned designers for Alessi, including Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec, Patricia Urquiola, Campana Brothers, Stefano Giovannoni, Miriam Mirri and Kristiina Lassus.
“When you design for an airline there are several aspects to be considered and all of them are important – said Alberto Alessi, President of Alessi – The most challenging step was finding the right balance between design and function while ensuring safety on board.”
With flatware, crystal glassware, new bone china, stainless steel serving pieces and tabletop accessories such as napkin rings and salt and pepper shakers, as well as serviceware and trays, the collection is on Delta flights since April 1th inside Delta’s premium cabins, including Delta One, First Class and, in late 2017, Delta Premium Select.
