Eternity, a dialogue between ancient art and photography

From 4 of March to 4 of April 2015, the Wunderkammer Visionnaire in Piazza Cavour Milan, in collaboration with the Spazio Nuovo gallery in Rome, presents Eternity, a selection of works by the famous portrayer andphotographer Olivier Roller. Sumptuous effigies of ancient sculptures preserved in the most prestigious museums in the world, emperors and female divinities represented with the luminous technique of the artist, a fascinating dialogue between contemporary photography and ancient art.

Roller immortalizes the statues taking them away from the darkness. Light and sharp eye awaken stories of glory, charisma and passion, but also the idea of beauty in its most essential and eternal form. Olivier Roller’s pieces, even in their cured manufacturing, pay homage to the unique codes of the Parisian Art Deco, when the gaze on the ancient or on the East as a source of absolute beauty was joined to the passion for the highest levels of craftsmanship. The lacquered wood, the slightly glossy fine art print that exalts the most beautiful and powerful faces of Roman sculpture, black as full code of the luxury, offer the whole scenographic show of contemporary photography.
