The projects that emerge from the studio of Giacomo Moor convey a perfect synthesis of technical and aesthetic expertise, with a strong focus on aspects of production. Furnishings for companies, limited editions for galleries, one-of-a-kind pieces for private clients: the distinctive quality of this designer is a combination of creative rigor and sensitivity to fine craftsmanship.

Recent works by Giacomo Moor include a collaboration with Live in Slums, which began in 2023 in the district of Mathare in Nairobi. During the Fuorisalone 2024, at ASSAB ONE the designer presented the continuation of the project: a small work of architecture for a dining hall, outfitted for the preparation and distribution of food and ready to serve up to 300 meals to local schoolchildren. A minimal structure in solid wood, made with care, in which the independence of the load-bearing framework from the cladding panels permits easy replace of damaged parts.

Passing to a totally different scale, the Pinocchio Zuccheriera was developed for the exhibition at the ADI Design Museum “Carissimo Pinocchio” curated by Giulio Iacchetti. Here Moor has interpreted the character in a functionalist way: the face becomes a sugar bowl in which the two basic solids, a sphere and a cone, become respectively a container for sugar and its cover. An opening contains a steel spoon, which when the vessel is closed becomes Pinocchio’s nose.

The Halfsquare family of cabinets designed for Living Divani is the continuation of research conducted by the designer on industrial semi-finished parts, already launched with the same brand in 2023 through the Railway sideboards. The new collection stands out for a series of light metal frameworks that develop vertically, alternating open portions and drawers to create a landscape of full and empty parts. The key detail of Halfsquare is the triangular geometry of the posts, replicated in the drawer panels, where it also provides a handle for opening.

Another new project for 2024 by Giacomo Moor is the Thumb collection of taps and mixer faucets for the kitchen created for Quadro: a series of volumes based on the subtraction of a small portion of material that encourages use of the product. A sign that creates a soft curve in the final part to accommodate the fingers and become the grip of the extractable spray unit. The same gesture returns in the volumes for activation and mixing of the water.
