In Paris, during Maison&Objet, the theme of a card game in a private home was the tantalizing invitation to step in and discover the eccentric world of The Socialite Family

Intrude uninvited. Spy without being seen. Quietly capture the most hectic moments of a hypothetical card game in a family home. Then let yourself get caught up in its intimate atmosphere. This is La Scopa, the immersive experience proposed by The Socialite Family during the Parisian event Maison&Objet in an hôtel particulier on Rue de l’Université, a short walk from Boulevard Saint-Germain.

Drawing inspiration from the atmosphere of Lo scopone scientifico (The Scientific Cardplayer), a 1972 film by Luigi Comencini featuring Alberto Sordi and Silvana Mangano (which was being screened in a small room), the founder and artistic director of The Socialite Family, Constance Gennari, spoke about the brand’s creative world, giving visitors the impression of entering a real, inhabited house. In the various rooms, the playing cards laid out on the tables gave the feeling of games in full swing.

The installation was created in collaboration with Varenne, an agency specializing in luxury properties, the iconic flea market Puces de Saint-Ouen for vintage and art pieces, and The Curators for the sound suggestion.

Pieces from The Socialite Family collection were mixed with trompe-l’oeil, heavy fabrics, and tapestries and period pieces: a shell-carved credenza-boiserie, a grid bookcase. A subtle interplay between decoration and mystery that made even the bathroom seductive with its Moorish-style references. A physical and virtual journey, where family stories and the spectator’s imagination intertwined, drawn into a captivating experience full of surprises. Just like a card game.
