Global networking, visibility, and the chance to gain international recognition: the call for applications for “one&twenty – world’s best design talents”, a competition for young designers organized by the German Design Council, is now open. The Council rewards 21 projects by students and recent graduates in the field of product design.
Until January 18, 2024, anyone interested may submit their project for free following the instructions on the link. They are looking for innovative and groundbreaking works in categories such as Interior Design, Lifestyle, Eco Design, Social Design & Medical and Rehabilitation, Materials and Textiles, Techniques and Processes for Design, Public Design and Digitally Supported Design.
From all the proposals received, an international panel of experts will award 21 projects that will be showcased from April 16 to 21, 2024, in an exhibition in Brera during Milan Design Week at the Salone del Mobile. As per tradition since 2017, the year the award was established, the exhibition set-up will be of high quality. Past designers have included the Danish firm Tableau, the Hamburg-based Besau-Marguerre studio, Danish designer Nina Bruun and Arianna Lelli Mami and Chiara Di Pinto of Studiopepe, among others.
Ever since its foundation in 1953, the German Design Council’s mission has been to promote design talent by enhancing their visibility, affording them the opportunity to showcase themselves and their work to the global design community, industry, commerce, and the general public. Additionally, participation opens winners to the German Design Council’s unique network of members offering the chance to forge crucial connections for a successful career start.
Through hosting events, awards, jury meetings, and expert panels, the Council links its members with a wide array of international design and brand experts, fuels the discourse, and provides crucial impulses for the global economy. It currently counts more than 330 companies among its members.
