The imaginative and refined universe of Vincent Darré takes form in a collection of mosaics for Bisazza, in an encounter of elective affinities. After the preview in Milan and now on view for the sophisticated audience of Paris Design Week, the Vincent Darré Collection is composed of four glass mosaic creations – Caryatides, Calliope, Erato and Thalia – in which the French artist and interior designer has transferred his stylistic codes and inspirational references: interpreting the grandeur of Classicism and the immersive fantasy of Surrealism, the result is a decorative proposal of great theatrical impact, adding new facets to the Bisazza Mosaic collection.

“The Vincent Darré Collection represents a perfect encounter between the experience of Bisazza in the production of mosaic tile, and the erudite, refined creative style of Vincent Darré,” says Rossella Bisazza. The company’s productive excellence grants concrete form to the ideas of the artist, who in Caryatides unveils a pattern composed of three modules, representing the three mythological subjects of the Deer, the Unicorn and the Lyre, in three color variants – Bleue, Grise, Verte – shown here in the form of caryatids and alternated with architectural elements, reminders of the columns of classical temples.

Calliope, Erato and Thalia pay homage to Surrealism, filtered in a contemporary way: they rely on a digital technique to give rise to patterns conceived as paintings, where the tiles juxtaposed in the hues of green, pale blue, yellow, gray and orange create figures overlaid in an unusual, evocative way.
“Bisazza is a brand that has long made me dream – the designer says. – My thoughts turned to the extraordinary mosaics of Pompeii, a legendary city for me, so I imagined creating a neoclassical décor inspired by Jean Cocteau, my pictorial icon, for his caryatids, guardians of a secret temple.”

“Each subject symbolizes a passage of life: the Deer, divine essence of the sacred; the Unicorn, the impetuosity of desire; and the Lyre, symbol of cosmic harmony. The muses are a poetic representation of my inspirations. Calliope: my relationship with white paper and watercolors, the starting point for all my projects. Thalia: a chess game, my struggle to realize childhood dreams through work. Erato, the lyre, is one of my obsessions; an allegory of theatrical performance that is a common thread through all my creations.”

With experience in the field of fashion, and presently focusing on interior design and decoration, Vincent Darré expresses his creativity in fabrics and wallpapers, in collaboration with Dior, Fred, Monoprix and many other clients. His signature is also on many hospitality projects in Paris, such as the Hotel Montana at Saint-Germain-des-Prés, Maison Schiaparelli on Place Vendôme, and the café-concept store Le Serpent à Plumes in Place des Vosges. From the Maison Darré on Rue Royale, his constantly developing talent finds infinite forms of expression, bringing the poetic side of the decorative arts onto the contemporary scene.
