They shed water, stand up to chlorine and light, while providing a range of colors that bring out the beauty of life in the open air. Outdoor coverings explore a textile sector that requires research and innovation, with an accent on sustainability.

The Acosta fabrics by Elitis are full of energy, relying on the earthy yellow and ochre hues of Mexico and California. Santa Cruz (on the cover) is a jacquard weave with graphic motifs, flameproof, resistant to abrasion and fully immune to the effects of sunlight. The same fabrics can be used for drapes, capturing the light that enters through windows.‎

The Endless Stories collection by Sunbrella with the Heritage fabrics has been developed by starting with waste materials from production processes. The fabric discards are subdivided into groups of colors, reduced to fiber and then mixed with virgin fibers, before being spun and reutilized to produce a new fabric. For Heritage, Sunbrella has inserted three new colors (Saddle, Sable and Duna) for a total of 13 variations on natural tones. Some small colored fibers may appear in the weave, making the fabrics unique, since the small defects become features of beauty.
