An enveloping installation that relates directly to the person walking through it and to the context that surrounds it. “Perceptions,” this is its name, intends to mix dimensions and senses, generate an experience, and stimulate emotions. This is the mode, immersive and interactive, that Poliform has chosen to tell its story at FuoriSalone and to present its first outdoor line. The 15th-century Cloisters of San Simpliciano, in b, lend themselves to host this multisensory representation that makes the company’s four new outdoor collections the protagonists.

A surface of volcanic lapilli crunching underfoot, the suave sound of the musical work Perennial Fantas composed ad hoc by artist Caterina Barbieri, the intense scents of incense filling the air, the gaze resting on the furnishings that in their dark iroko finish appear as monoliths emerged from volcanic rock, illuminated by the sun and Santa & Cole lamps. “Perceptions” thus creates a place of calm and beauty where one can stop and give space to one’s senses. The installation (which can be visited after registration until April 22) was created to investigate the relationship between human beings, nature and the landscape; a reflection that also guided the design of the new outdoor collection, an interpretation of the contemporary lifestyle based on the quality and fluidity of spaces.

The collection, which includes sofas, armchairs, occasional tables and accessories designed by Jean-Marie Massaud, Emmanuel Gallina, Marcel Wanders and Soo Chan, as well as the Land outdoor kitchen designed in collaboration with cap., has the same peculiarities as the indoor collections: elegance, timeless style, excellent design. Perfectly representative of this concept is the Mad Out outdoor collection, an extension of the iconic and bestselling Mad collection. With a focus on craftsmanship, Marcel Wanders has created a series of outdoor furniture that stylistically seeks the indoor line of the same name, but with materials that now guarantee its longevity and durability in all weather conditions. In a seamless dialogue between in & out.

The structure translates to a handcrafted weaving technique for an effect of transparency and light, making these pieces suitable for outdoor use while maintaining the style of the archetypal classic indoor armchair. It is available in three colors (cream, brick and brown) and can be combined with small tables made of lava stone, embellished with an enameled pattern that creates a beautiful play of matte and shiny surfaces. The Mad Out collection consists of a 3-seater sofa, armchair and side tables.
