A seat that welcomes you to enjoy haute couture comfort with its sartorial look. New Lady, designed by Paolo Rizzatto for the 2021 collection by Alias. Famous for the objects he has designed from the mid-1960s to the present, the Milanese architect born in 1941 brings his experience back into the company based at Grumello del Monte (province of Bergamo), expanding the Young series based on the established model of the tripod.

Along with Young Lady, the iconic chair created by the designer in 1991 with a seat in Vienna straw, Rizzatto now offers an update of the historic model with an eye on greater comfort. The result is New Lady, a new upholstered chair with an enveloping shell, completed covered in leather or fabric and supplied with comfortable cushions. A contemporary chair where shell and structure, apparently separate in terms of form, are blended in a single, harmonious design.

An apparently simple piece of furniture, but one with exceptional comfort and functional quality, where nothing has been left to chance. The stitching that enhances the border of the shell and the details of the various bases take us back to the world of industrial crafts, where “made by hand” is combined with the most sophisticated technology. New Lady is completed by a structure composed of a swivel tripod in die-cast aluminium, supplied with a visible damping mechanism. The model also comes in a novel variation, with legs in solid oak.

Pure design based on lightness of form, for an essential, functional décor presence of great expressive impact, springing from the DNA of all the brand’s collections. A versatile chair that brings elegance to any space, from the home office to the living area, and to any context, including home interiors, hotels and restaurants.

An update of a product that has been in the catalogue for 30 years, now in a completely new version: “Preserving the philosophy of a brand, looking back on the foundations of its history and character, at the products that have marked turning points or unique innovations in the history of design, means being able to make a profound analysis of what Alias has been, projecting this heritage into a vision of the future,” says Andrea Sanguineti, brand manager and design director. “To recovery projects from the past and development them in relation to new needs and themes is a sustainable and responsible process. New ways of using furniture in the spaces of the office and the home, the evolution of hospitality facilities, green materials for more sustainable impact, new finishes, fabrics, types of wood – these are just some of the factors behind this process of revision and improvement.”
