Nature does the design

Mushroom or lamp? Boleto, the outdoor lamp by Martinelli Luce, imitates nature with pure forms, matched by the usual technological innovation

Nature, landscapes and gardens are themes that have always interested Martinelli Luce, a company that has developed extensive experience in the field of outdoor lighting, based on ongoing design research.

The company has collaborated recently with AIAPP – the Italian Landscape Architecture Association – to create a partnership that brings together know-how and expertise on both sides.

The bond with nature has been a source of inspiration for many indoor and outdoor projects. The outdoor lamp designed by Emiliana Martinelli, for example, imitates the boletus, a mushroom found in forests, with a semispherical cap. Amidst the vegetation in gardens, the slender structures of Boleto sprout up like mushrooms and also echo their particular color, thanks to the aluminium structure painted in a Cor-ten shade.

The direct LED lighting brightens pathways in gardens in a non-invasive way, sliding lightly on the ‘stem’ to illuminated the surrounding space. The stem comes in two heights, with a cylindrical base for ground attachment, permitting creation of luminous compositions.
