In Genoa: the Salone Nautico

From 1 to 6 October, the best of the nautical world gathers in Genoa. A 60th edition with outstanding new developments and protagonists, as well as a Covid Task Force to guarantee safety

The 60th edition is a symbol of Italy, which never stands still. This is the forecast for the upcoming Genoa Boat Show, held on its regular schedule of 1 to 6 October.
“After the record reconstruction of Ponte San Giorgio, Genoa is again the starting point for a new, strong signal of social responsibility, determination, force of will and know-how in Italy,” say the organizers, namely I Saloni Nautici (a company of Confindustria Nautica).

The desire to act and restart the sector has made it possible to find solutions that permit organization of the event in total safety. The measures taken will be much stricter than those imposed by the decrees of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers and the guidelines of the World Health Organization. A Covid Task Force has been formed, composed of a pool of engineers, healthcare and legal experts, coordinated by Prof. Avv. Lorenzo Cuocolo, a member of the Task Force of the Liguria Region, whose Safety Protocol has received unanimous approval on the part of all the pertinent agencies.

Among the procedures activated, tickets are sold only online, entries are scanned for body temperature, video cameras oversee temperature screening prior to access. Even the layout of the exhibition, 200,000 square meters, almost entirely outdoors, has been revised to ensure a minimum length for all corridors of 4 to 6 meters, and the insertion of differentiated pathways.

“The complex pathway leading to this year’s Boat Show – says the President Saverio Cecchi, also president of Confindustria Nautica – would not have been possible without sector companies that have believed in the project, to which I would like to express our thanks. Being here in Genoa not only means representing the excellence of Made in Italy, but is also a way of taking an active part in the rebound of our country’s economy and image.”

Institutional conferences, seminars, round tables and collateral events will complete the program, starting with the Opening Conference (Thursday 1 October) of 60 anni di Nautico: un ponte sul futuro (at 11.00 on the Terrace of the Blue Pavilion).

Finally, to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Boat Show, a Design Innovation Award has been created for exhibitors, organized by Confindustria Nautica and I Saloni Nautici, in collaboration with ICE-Agency, to support and promote excellence in the nautical sector and to focus on innovation achieved by the exhibitors, as seen in their latest products.
