Conscious design

WantedDesign Brooklyn at Industry City, presented by the co-founders Odile Hainaut and Claire Pijoulat, Michael Philipps, president of Jamestown, and the award-winning designer Humberto Campana as special guest, opened on 15 May with events, conferences and live performances.

The theme of this edition is “Conscious Design”: “Humberto Campana is the guest of honor for the IC Design Festival of WantedDesign: there could be no better representative of a humanistic approach to design, based on awareness, empathy and generosity, than this remarkable creative talent,” say Odile Hainaut and Claire Pijoulat.

Design transforms – presented by Campana Institute + Central Saint Martins – is an open factory guided by Humberto Campana to co-create, in a unique experience, a series of objects and a permanent installation at Industry City. A special collaboration that celebrates not only 35 years of activity of the Campana Brothers, but also the 10th anniversary of Campana Institute, an emblem of design conceived as a vehicle of social transformation.

The many exhibitions not to be missed include TIMBER! curated by Hannah Martin, a series of wooden and collectible objects made in Industry City; the projects of the international schools from all over the world – Finland, Mexico, El Salvador, France, Australia, the United States, Sweden, Colombia – and the fourth edition of OUI Design presented by WantedDesign and the French Embassy in New York, supported by Institut Français-Paris, the French Ministry of Culture, FACE Foundation, the Florence Gould Foundation and the CHANEL Fund for Women in the Arts and Culture.
Among the highlights of OUI Design, the Transatlantic Creative Exchange program that brings French and American designers together to explore innovative techniques.
