The lightness of architecture

Structural elements in glass become canvases on which to express creativity and functional quality at the same time. The collections of DSA Glass explore the potential of the material to revolutionize the world of interior design and construction

We are used to appreciating the workmanship in glass objects made for decorative ends, spectacular lighting fixtures, and the convivial setting of the art de la table. But what happens when the scale shifts beyond dozens of meters, in exponentially multiplied volumes? We enter a dimension in which the material – glass – reveals a very different nature: more solid, stronger, more architectural. Glass, in its multiple structural and expressive interpretations, becomes an integral part of space.

This is the principle behind DSA Glass, a total solution provider of architectural and decorative products in glass. Founded in Hong Kong in 2004 by Michelle Fan – relying on extensive experience in the fit-out sector – DSA Glass has expanded the expressive and functional boundaries of the material, combining artistry, innovation and technology, for the benefit of the construction industry. The material now has infinite uses for hotels, shopping malls, retail facilities, commercial and residential, buildings: from facade cladding to divider walls and partitions, as well as doors, windows and much more.
An equally wide range of products can be seen in the company’s collections: laminated glass, digital printing, transparent or patterned glass, with incorporated metals, fabrics or wood (for the ‘decorative’ line), but also non-reflective, darkening or bulletproof glass (for the ‘functional’ offerings).

This pluralism of production – certainly boosted by the company’s ability to generate over 20,000 square meters of glass per month – has made DSA Glass an outstanding counterpart for property developers, renowned hotels and architecture firms, like Marriott Hotel Group, Shangri-La Hotel Group, Intercontinental Hotel Group, Henderson Land Development, HBA, Wilson Associates, Yabu Pushelberg and Adeas. “Constant innovation and the capacity to respond to the needs of our clients have always been the central values of our company,” says Michelle Fan. This approach has led to the possibility of complete customizing of DSA Glass products, based on a production process that extends from development of the initial concept to the final manufacturing and installation. This forceful strategy and clear identity have permitted rapid growth and a solid position in Hong Kong, in China, and more generally on the Asian market.

The next steps are already very clear: “We will use the network we have created thus far in order to intercept new international opportunities. We will make further investments in technology (as well as corporate facilities) and growth (also in terms of human resources). We also intend to begin collaborations with local and international partners, asserting our presence through trade fairs such as M&O Paris and HD Expo Las Vegas, first of all,” says Michelle Fan. “And – most importantly of all – we will continue to create and to work with clients, who represent a true design challenge for us, to transform ideas into reality, and to make the impossible become possible.”
