Enrolment is now open for the Master’s in Yacht Design

The course at the Polytechnic University of Milan is in English and produces designers capable of managing a vessel's entire design and construction process

Polytechnic University of Milan and Yacht Design, there’s no separating the two. Enrolment is now open for the eighteenth edition of the Milanese University’s Master’s Degree. The course, taught entirely in English, starts in February 2019 and will train 30 designers on how to respond to national and international market requirements, as well as how to manage a vessel’s entire design and construction process.

A vessel is a multi-faceted product in which a host of systems must entwine and integrate, from engine propulsion to living spaces. Of course interiors cannot help but be influenced by current trends and taste. The Master’s Degree course has already trained over 400 sector professionals on how to respond to these requirements, with classroom training as well as design workshops at shipyards and companies. In addition to all this, the course also includes an internship of approximately 3 months at companies in the sector, including Ferretti Group, Sanlorenzo, Stand By Marijana Radovic and Montecarlo Yacht.
Three scholarships covering 25% of tuition fees are also available,  applications need to be submitted before the 26th October 2018.

The nautical market is showing impressive signs of growth, with Italy positioned as its leader at world level, thanks to its ability to combine and integrate design, artisanship , technology and innovation. According to the CNA (National Confederation of Crafts and Small and Medium Sized businesses) report, the nautical sector enjoyed double digit growth in 2017, at +18%. This means that it is experiencing a phase of impressive growth and recovery.
