In 2017 Design Shanghai attracted a staggering 50,979 high-profile visitors from 70 countries to the Shanghai Exhibition Centre. Expectations are high for this year’s edition, in celebration of its fifth anniversary.
There will be a total of five halls: Contemporary, Classic & Luxury, Collectibles, Kitchen & Bathroom, Workplace, for exploring how western and oriental design philosophies can work in synergy. There will also be bespoke installations and interesting networking opportunities inside and outside.
The event strives to bring together exceptional, quality and inspirational design, presenting over 400 design brands and galleries from all over the world, as well as emerging designers from China and beyond. An important networking platform for Asia’s most influential architects, interior designers and property developers, the promotion of international collaborations and the active participation of sector professionals with a dedicated “Hosted Buyer programme”.
Design Shanghai is also home to Asia’s most complete and followed programme of seminars, featuring over 40 icons of international design. The 2018 edition theme is: “Design Visionaries, Design Visions, Design Futures”.
In addition, following on from last year’s success, Design Shanghai in the City is back in 2018, with a brand new theme: “The New Social Era on Boundary”. In partnership with Shanghai Xintiandi, the design festival will further accentuate the city’s verve, with a selection of interactive installations by international and Chinese artists.
