Among the installations, exhibition and cultural events, shows and meetings with the great personalities of this industry, the FuoriSalone is the Salone del Mobile’s freely and uncontrollably creative alter ego, a concept spread throughout the city’s neighbourhoods where design knows no frontiers, whether physical or intellectual. This is the concept that Nube selected through which to recount its latest product advances. It does this directly in the heart of Brera Design District event, inside the multi-brand Meet Lab (on via Carmine), where the company has been presenting its upholstered collections and complements for over a year now.
Placing its trust in the hands of Studio Viganò, the outcomes of Nube’s constant research into interior design has resulted in two sofas, one armchair and a series of coffee tables. A selected contemporary collection that gives the company a fresher, more contemporary look.
“We immediately synced with the proposal that Studio Viganò, which we first worked with in the 90s, presented to us – explains Simona Nicoli, the owner of the company. The forms are more geometric and the upholstering more compact; the softness of the last few years has given way to a normal stylistic evolution favouring a return to rigidity. Obviously, this does not mean a lack of comfort, but more formalised precision.”
Thus, a sofa with essential lines with the seat and back in the form of a shell or a second island shaped sofa with hard rollers as armrests anchored to the based will not surprise us. To further define the linearity, the products are upholstered using a combination of skins for the exterior part of the body and textiles for the interior. The metallic element, which has defined the brand from its origins in 1950 when the company entered the market as a manufacturer of metal structures, now emerges in the form of visible metal legs and it is used for the internal structure.
The new proposals by StudioViganò that are showcased at Design Week will be expanded over the next few months with new complete collection of upholstered and modular elements and seating. Among the protagonists is also the Glow sofa (designed by Marco Corti), the company’s first outdoor sofa.
