Business and culture at the Salone

“Design is a State. And Milan is its capital.” This is the mantra accompanying the 56th edition of Milan’s Salone del Mobile to underline the strong link between the international trade fair and the city that has always hosted it.

In the trade fair district of Rho, the Salone del Mobile, as usually divided into pavilions dedicated to Modern & Design and Luxury, has transformed the xLux format presented last year into the new formula “Classic: Traditions in the future” through a homogeneous layout with no discontinuity. Accompanying the new Classic, the theatre and a room from Before Design: Classic, a project presented at the last edition will be presented again, together with the short film by the director Matteo Garrone.

At the same time as the flagship event, the biennials dedicated to the world of light and the workplace will be conducted this year.

Euroluce, now in its 29th edition, together with the most innovative private and industrial lighting systems, will put the spotlight on lighting designs aimed at improving wellbeing and quality of life and the activities conducted in all types of space.

The 18th edition of Workplace3.0 will be presented with an exhibition dedicated to design and technology for designing the workplace, focusing on the rapid change in the sector and its new requirements.

Two events will be dedicated to the biennials. The first, entitled DeLightFul – Design, Light, Future, Living, curated by Ciarmoli Queda Studio, will be a visual and sensorial journey into everyday life and contemporary spaces, while the other, A joyful Sense of Work, curated by Cristina Cutrona, will display a new concept of the office environment.

The 20th edition of SaloneSatellite opens with a question: “Design is…?” and celebrates the anniversary with the Collezione SaloneSatellite 20, made up of pieces designed for the occasion by international designers who started their careers at the event. While at the Fabbrica del Vapore (Steam Factory), SaloneSatellite. 20 years of new creativity will be open to the public, an anthology of articles presented as prototypes during the various editions and then launched onto the market.

At The Mall di Porta Nuova, space&interiors returns, the only event connected with Milan’s Salone del Mobile dedicated to finishes for architecture, curated by the Migliore+ServettoArchitects studio.
