The design community meets to compare notes in Dubai

With six successful editions behind it, the international platform for collectable design, Design Days Dubai, has also become a cultural platform of great importance for the Region.

In parallel with the flagship trade fair, the associated events are increasingly attracting attention.  During the four days, visitors can attend talks, workshops, installations, awards, discussion panels and performances.
Supported by Dubai Culture and 3d, this year’s programme has been devised to involve and inspire all the participants: students, professionals and design enthusiasts.

More than 20 speakers from 18 countries will daily take part in conversations and panel discussions aimed at exploring the issues tabled by the design community.
The programme was launched by an opening speech given by Fabio Novembre, a guest of the Italian Embassy and the Italian Trade Commission.
The This is My Job panel focuses on the issue of the division in a designer’s work between the production of the idea and supervision of the industrial process.

Organised by Audi, the Innovation Talks are a series of daily round tables where designers can freely discuss the state of the art and the future developments that concern their profession.

A dozen workshops and master classes – organised by, among others, Van Cleef & Arpels, the Craft Council, the Dutch Creative Industry and Tashkeel  – seek to give participants the opportunity to put a number of theories and design concepts into practice.  Artists, craftsmen, designers, architects and enthusiasts are invited to take part in demonstrations and technical experiments.
