Brussels Furniture Fair is a significant trade fair for Belgium, the Netherlands and France, as well as for other European countries including Italy. 6 out of 10 visitors are estimated to come from a country outside Belgium and 60% of exhibitors are also foreign.
The Expo Exhibition Centre features six different areas, spread over a space of 70,000 sq m, creating a clear, efficient layout for visitors. The heart of the exhibition is ‘City’ in Halls 3, 4 and 5, which features contemporary furniture and chairs by Belgian, German and French companies, as well as Italian brands including Calia Italia, MaxDivani, Egoitaliano, Bardi, Corium Italia and many more. Bedrooms, mattresses, upholstered furniture and bed linen are in Hall 6, where ‘Brussels by Night’ displays the latest technical innovations and sofa beds from Denmark.
One area of Hall 3 is taken up by ‘Square’, which exhibits innovative products characterized by affordable prices and contemporary design by Italian brands such as Domitalia, Nicoletti Home, Dienne, Delta Salotti, Devina Nais and Munari.
In Hall 9, ‘Mosaic’ brings together the most colorful collections at basic prices (water blue and greens are the key colors for 2017). Next, in the Patio, ‘Holland à la Carte’ is the platform with a new look for Dutch producers. Hall 8 features rustic and romantic collections with decorations and accessories for the home: Belgian and Dutch companies in particular exhibit at ‘Fusion’, grouped, as they were last year, in the ‘Brussels Lifestyle’ section.
Lieven Van den Heede, the fair’s director, recounts how this year art director Siegrid Demyttenaere decided on the motto “We Care!” to focus interest on the planet, people and the future. This is the impetus for the focus on new intelligent materials and on the reuse of natural resources, experimenting with the power of plants and minerals.
