D&G dresses Smeg

Smeg is presenting major new additions at Milan Design Week: the original products include the limited edition FAB28, designed in collaboration with Dolce&Gabbana, and the vast Dolce Stil Novorange

Smeg is presenting itself with an unconventional look that recalls the best of Italian tailoring: the iconic FAB28 refrigerator is signed by Dolce&Gabbana and features a run of 100 original, creative pieces made for Eurocucina 2016.

The limited edition features decorative motifs that evoke the Sicilian tradition beloved by the designers. These motifs are entirely hand-painted by local artists, whose skill transforms the appliance into a true work of art. Lemons, triskelions, medieval knights, battle scenes – all characteristic elements of puppet theater stories and of Sicilian carts – are embellished with floral-style decorations for a highly eclectic result. The companies involved in the collaboration work in extremely different fields, but find a common ground in the traditional values that characterize the “Bel Paese”.

The innovations at FTK (Technology for The Kitchen) are not only limited to the FAB28: Dolce Stil Novo is the line that Smeg is presenting at the 2016 fair, encompassing a wide range of products characterized by a sophisticated design and embellished with refined details such as copper or stainless steel profiles. Design, stylistic and technological innovations do not make these products any less simple to use. The collection consists of 60 and 45 cm ovens, a blast chiller, multi-purpose drawers, cooktops – gas, induction and mixed –, range hoods, coffee machines and wine coolers, all united by their remarkable elegance.

Smeg’s collection of wine coolers is expanding its range of products, adding, in addition to a Dolce Stil Novo version, a wine cooler that respects the aesthetic codes of the timeless Classica line. The product has been designed with the help of distinguished sommeliers, ensuring that it respects the ideal conditions for conserving fine wines. The characteristic Eclypse glass used for the coolers shield the wine from harmful rays and create a highly striking visual effect, alternating transparency when the lights are turned on and darkness when the product is not illuminated.

Smeg is particularly focusing its energy on ovens and dishwashers, achieving increasingly innovative results. Notably, the new range of dishwashers presented at the Milan International Fair once again features the Planetarium wash system, the company’s patented technology to reduce energy consumption.
