For lovers of yachting, a month of must-see events, in Italy and abroad, to discover the newest developments in this industry

Start your engines and full speed ahead. The world of yachting is ready for a feverish period of appointments, putting the spotlights on the latest new developments in terms of design, interiors, technologies and even lifestyles.

The famous Cannes Yachting Festival kicks off the calendar in September, from 12 to 17 September. Six days in the sunshine of the French Riviera, to unveil over 650 vessels (from 5 to 50 meters) equipped with “classic” or already decarbonized motors, including the first electric, hybrid or hydrogen propulsion systems. Along with the latest nautical gear, innovations and world premieres, ready to greet about 55,000 visitors, including professionals and yachtsmen, boating lovers and fans. The new development for this edition is the creation of a marina at Vieux Port for the smaller boats, from 8 to 12 meters (previously exhibited on land at Quai Max Laubeuf).

The Cannes Yachting Festival is split between Port Canto, for the sailing vessels, a worldwide showcase for large sailboats, the Yacht Brokerage area, with French and international players in the market for second-hand properties, and the “Toys” space with its wide variety of devices for sports and recreation. And Vieux Port, one of the oldest ports on the Riviera, presents the motor yachts this year from the world’s leading shipyards, with the protagonists of motor yachting even above 45 meters in length.

From 21 to 26 September Genoa hosts the 63rd edition of the International Boat Show. Over 1000 vessels on view at the Fair of Genoa, increasingly connected to the city and under transformation thanks to the project of the Waterfront di Levante by the architect Renzo Piano (construction will be completed in 2024).

“In the meantime, the recent opening of the navigable canals, the spectacular island that forms the setting of the Padiglione Blu, and the new exhibition piers that already this year will host 200 new moorings, make the Boat Show a unique platform in the world today,” says Stefano Pagani Isnardi, Direttore Ufficio Studi e Progetti Confindustria Nautica.

Once again this year, the Design Innovation Award, organized by Confindustria Nautica and I Saloni Nautici in 2020 with the aim of supporting excellence in this sector, will include Maria Porro, president of Salone del Mobile.Milano, to chair the international jury to select the nine winners among the products on view.

The 32nd edition of the Monaco Yacht Show, from 27 to 30 September, focuses not only on new design developments – with a fleet of 120 superyachts and megayachts on the market, including the eagerly awaited launches for 2023 – but also new vistas of sustainable innovation: the Sustainability Hub and the Yacht Design & Innovation Hub will display new eco-responsible technologies for yachting. While the Dockside Area and the Adventure Area also offer full immersion in pleasure boating and related activities.

Finally, to close out the fall season, the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show is held from 25 to 29 October. Spread across seven different locations (Broward County Convention Center, Bahia Mar Yachting Center, Hall Of Fame Marina, Las Olas Marina, 17th Street Yacht Basin, Pier 66 Marina and the Superyacht Village at Pier 66 South), the event covers 90 acres, close to the beach of South Florida. In five days, it attracts the attention of over 100,000 participants and 1000 exhibitors from 52 countries, with more than 1300 boats on view (in 2022). The main attractions include the Superyacht Village hosting the largest models included in the show.
